Joycelyn Chieng

Hi, I’m Joycelyn — a trauma-informed psychotherapist. I’m passionate about helping individuals achieve inner peace, emotional balance, and meaningful connection. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, relationship and attachment issues, and stress/burnout. I also support those anticipating or grieving the loss of a beloved pet, recognizing how personal and profound that pain can be.

With 13 years in the corporate world, I understand the pressures of fast-paced environments and the importance of emotional well-being across all areas of life—personal, academic, and professional.

Since 2011, I’ve worked across education, social services, and private practice, supporting people of all ages and backgrounds through a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges.

I draw on evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Therapy is always tailored to you—whether you’re managing triggers, rebuilding self-esteem, seeking clarity and self-awareness, or navigating grief and loss.

If things feel overwhelming, know that you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to support you. Welcome to Transform PsyCare — where your journey to transform begins.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

In order to safeguard you and ensure the level of the services you received, I invest in continuing professional development to maintain, develop, and enhance my professional competency. This is achieved through regular trainings, reading and consultation from well experienced and established therapists.

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?

You are here and you are ready for therapy. Give it a go since you have nothing to lose, you can always opt out if therapy does not suit you. The choice is in you. A free 15-min consultation with me might be a good start.

What kind of training have you had in working with the LGBTQ population?

LGBTQ is a rapidly changing population with their unique strengths and struggles. My first training dated back to 2013 with other on-going learnings after that to keep abreast of the LGBTQ population. However, the most insightful and beautiful learning is always from my LGBTQ clients whom I supported over the years.

What should someone know about working with you?

I believe life satisfaction starts with inner peace. In a safe therapeutic space, I help you understand your triggers, rebuild your positive sense of self and regain control of your emotions. I also help those grieving or anticipating pet loss to honor their grief, foster new connections and meaningful memorials. Also, I carefully manage my caseload so that I am always attuned and focused on supporting you.

How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?

I value people, trustworthy and growth. I bring this into my therapy by focusing on your needs, goals and feedback. I gain your trust by adopting an empathetic, non-judgemental, trauma-informed and evidence-based approach. I invested in continuing profession development to ensure the quality of services you received.
