What is the greatest reward in being a counsellor for the queer community?

Being marginalized and often misunderstood, members of the queer community sometime shave difficulty finding effective counselling. Oftentimes, they encounter therapists who place too much emphasis on their sexuality, rather than on their issues at hand. By treating every client as a unique individual, we work together to create personalized solutions. It is rewarding to journey with my clients on their path to mental wellness.

What should someone know about working with you?

My programmes are highly-customised according to each individual's unique and changing needs. We identify issues and challenges together, and then collaborate to set goals and formulate useful solutions. I adopt cognitive-behavioural and integrated techniques. The location, duration, frequency and number of sessions for each person is flexible and catered to various lifestyles.

How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?

My professional goal is to help my clients achieve success in life, and to replace their anxiety with a sense of tranquility and well-being. Mutual trust and respect are crucial to the therapeutic relationship. I aim to be compassionate, honest and open, so that you can get to know me as I get to know you. Together, we work towards self-awareness and mental clarity. I am a firm believer in continuing education, and I regularly upgrade my knowledge and skills, and explore new developments in my areas of expertise.

Are you a queer affirmative practitioner?
