Caroline Ho

I started my career in the banking sector and a personal experience changed my perspective of what I wanted for my career. I witnessed how counselling helps one to manage emotions and challenging periods of our lives. That is the point where the decision to be accredited as a counsellor was made. This lead me to join a non profit organisation where I supported clients facing different life stressors like relationships or work issues and suicide ideation.

As your counsellor, my approach will be empathic and person-centered and will work with you to do manage the difficulties you are facing. I am also a Provisional Clinical Member of Singapore Association for Counselling.

What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?

Focus on mental health has brought a lot of attention in recent years and it is long overdue. I am delighted to be part of this evolving landscape as it is a clear signal that people who experience certain form of mental challenges in their lifetime should feel safe and okay to seek counselling. It should not be seen as a taboo or a sign of weakness.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

I see this practice as a journey of continuous learning and growing. I take pride in this growth by attending courses and counselling summits, interacting and engaging with practice experts to constantly broaden my perspectives. This is a very important process as it helps me gain exposure and knowledge which means I continue to up-skill myself to better help my clients.

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?

Taking your first step can be daunting but it is also your first step to loving and caring for yourself to know that you are not alone in this journey. Counsellors are trained professionals who will walk this journey to recovery.

What should someone know about working with you?

I focus on therapy for individuals age 18 and above as well as couple therapy.
