Clementine Liu

Clementine Liu

My interests lie in the care of the teenagers, young adults, elderly, cancer patients and their caregiver.

As a case worker working with cancer patients across all age groups for over ten years, I have developed a strong interest in improving their quality of life and in cancer rehabilitation generally.

I am also keen in developing the future generations of Singapore, and volunteers as a career mentor in a polytechnic school. I am bilingual and can deliver counselling and training in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Both academically and in practice, I also has a broad interest in integrating other counselling theories into the framework of Choice theory and reality therapy, in addition to the integration of western counselling techniques with eastern culture and philosophy to better tailor my approach to the regional population.

What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?

I really like how MOH treat mental health in a holistic approach. I am excited that I am part of the mental health landscape, and I could work with GP and psychiatrists in managing my clients when necessary.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

Before I graduated with a master degree, I embarked on the journey to learn choice theory and reality therapy, and I have been diving into this therapy for 5 years. Do or do not, there is no try.

I won’t specify LGBTQ population as a special population in delivery counseling. I strongly believe that all long-last psychological problems are relationship problems - relationship with others, or relationship with self.
