What is the greatest reward in being a counsellor for the queer community?

To be honest, the honour is mine. I know this because after every session with my client (queer or not), I actually feel gratitude and joy in being able to journey with my clients.

What is the greatest challenge in being a counsellor for the queer community?

That I may not have the answer all the time or that I do not have quick fixes.

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

Growing up, I have often questioned the purpose of human’s existence on earth and the key to happiness. I have battled depression and gastrointestinal issues for more than ten years. My journey to find natural healing led me to Psychotherapy, Bodytalk and Bach FlowerRemedies. I have never felt more peace and joy in my life till now. My discovery has also instilled in me important values which I apply to my treatments, such as the importance of integrity, inner wellbeing, harmony and self empowerment.

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?

When in doubt, find someone to speak to before the problem snowball into something bigger.Think of it as a massage for your mental emotional health. If you'll go for a massage to ease your bodily aches, how about seeking counselling for your mental emotional pain? There is no shame in building a healthy you holistically. All you need is an open mind.

What kind of training have you had in working with the LGBTQ population?

More like personal experience and my keen observation. I have many friends from the LGBTQ community, and from my observation, many of the issues which they face are no different from the others.
